Lonely planet 2007

On Barranco…
'Once a holiday resort for upper-crust Limeños, Barranco`s budget scene is now blossoming, with several top-notch new hostels to rival anything in Miraflores.'

On our hostel…:
‘This whitewashed villa is a popular, long-running hostel with fairly comfortable dorms as well as the toys that backpackers crave: cable TV and a DVD collection, free internet access, pool and table-tennis tables, hammocks, a shared kitchen and a popular in-house bar. The staff are only too willing to act as guides on the Friday evening pub crawl.’

The Point …´is a fun-loving, new backpacker option with everything a traveler needs: Internet, long-distance calling, sitting room with cable TV, nice bunk beds with shared bathrooms, cheap lunches, pool table, sauna, book exchange, travel agency, a grassy lawn and outdoor bar. This restored Republican-era house is just paces away from Barranco`s best bars and sweeping ocean views.
There are frequent barbecues and Monday night outings to the local jazz bar, La Noche.’

The Point …´is a gem amid the many similar lodging options of Miraflores and Barranco. Come for the young and hip atmosphere, the house-owned guests-only pub, ping pong, book exchange, hammocks, and oceanside locale. Very popular, so call ahead…’

‘It was nice to finally be in a place where the receptionists spoke English.’
Elliot Moodie – Arrival date: 4 January 2008

‘The Point was a real buzz, people staying there were cool and the location in Barranco was ideal, close enough to lima centro and miraflores to explore and enjoy the nightlife but far enough out to be able to chill when you want to. the staff are both knowledgeable and friendly and willing to drop everything to help. Fantastico.’
Robert Johnson – Arrival date: 20 October 2007

‘Fab, everything’s available for you: food, drink, fun, internet, tv, dvds! Love it!’

‘Friendly and helpful girls in reception. And cute too....’
Lars Pedersen - Arrival date: 3 November 2007

‘Its all amazing, every single bit of it makes you feel welcome from the manager to the cleaning staff, you can chill out with guests and staff in the bar which is within and fking great. You can party like a motherfker there and yet still if you wanna get an early night its peaceful enough that you won’t be disturbed. Have to say though that this hostel is for young travellers, older ones might not quite enjoy it as much, unless you´re a 60s hippie, in which case you will! BEST HOSTEL EVER. ENJOY!’
Sam McMullen - Arrival date: 19 June 2007

‘So much fun, the staff are fantastic, great place to party and have a laugh.’
Etaoin Corcoran - Arrival date: 14 April 2007

Feedback from January 2006 - Hostel Lima

• Most comfortable and down to earth hostel I’ve ever stayed in. Had a blast, both partying and just hanging out.

• The best hostel I've stayed so far in South America! Cool staff, great bar and probably the best movie collection in the southern hemisphere! :) Barranco the neighbourhood is also lovely.

• Quite good hostel - very social and good if your travelling by yourself.

• I had a great time! 2 days turned into 8 days. I met awesome people that were friendly, always invited me to go out, and gave great travel advice.

• This was one of the best hostels I’ve stayed at. Great courtyard and bar area, with something happening every night. Staff were fantastic and were all too willing to show us the local nightlife.

‘Hey guys, I just want to say you guys are so awesome. Thank you so much for bringing my passport and helping me out at the airport, even though I missed my flight you guys took me in as family! Missing my flight was worth being at the club until 6:30 am! Thanks, I love you all!
